The LED must use DC power, so we must use the AC transformer to make your 110v~240v AC to the DC.

We default to use the MW brand AC transformer for our LED signage products, for this brand AC transformer is the best we can get, please check their website: http://www.meanwell.com/ to know their products. If your signage would be used outdoor or the wet location, we suggest to use the water-proof AC transformer, and if your signage would be used indoor and it is dry, we suggest to use the normal AC transformer. For the normal AC transformer could dissipate heat quickly so that it would have better life time. We suggest to place the AC transformer close your signage, else the wire resistance would wast the power and make the lighting of your LED signage weaker. We suggest to make the distance between the AC transformer and your LED signage in 5 meter, about 16 ft.

Every individual part of your LED signage have two cables, one is for the positive another is for the negative. All the cables of your signage need to be linked together in parallel, then link to the output of the AC transformer and make the input of the AC transformer link to your AC source.

Read before start:

  • The Min. main connecting wire size: 2.5 square RV. Try to make the same distance for each individual part of your LED signage.
  • The distance between the AC transformer and the LED signage within 5 meters (too much exhaust of low voltage DC). Check the voltage at the LED signage terminals after completion of wiring, the deviation of the voltage should be +/- 0.2 V of the nominal voltage, otherwise a larger main wire needs to be used.
  • AC transformer needs to be grounded during installation. Each individual part of your LED signage’s connection wire is DC 12V.
  • Parallel connect all each individual part of your LED signage’ connection wires and then use the middle wire to connect to AC transformer. “+V” is positive terminal, “-V” is negative terminal.
  • The AC transformer has its own fan for reducing the temperature, initial starting temperature is 60 degree C.
  • Please place the AC transformer to power distribution box. The AC transformer need cooling, a small and air-tight space would cause AC transformer damaged soon.
  • Please protect the normal AC transformer to avoid water damage.
  • The different water-proof AC transformer have different protection grade, please tell us which one you needed. We can support your the IP65,IP66 and IP67. If you did not know the difference between the IP65,IP66 and IP67, please check the bottom of this article. If you just tell us you need water-proof AC transformer, we would give you the IP65 in default.
  • All the AC transformer could be used 110v~240v AC, the water-proof AC transformer is auto, but the normal AC transformer maybe need to set, please check the manual of the AC transformer. If there are any questions you could contact with our sales or contact with MeanWell company.

IP65 Enclosures

IP67 Enclsoures

Able to protect against Immersion up to 1 m Ingress of water in harmful quantity shall not be possible when the enclosure is immersed in water under defined conditions of pressure and time (up to 1 m of submersion). Test duration: 30 minutes
Immersion at depth of at least 1 m measured at bottom of device, and at least 15 cm measured at top of device
